Enjoy a stroll through the vineyard and an incredible view from the observation deck
A direct shuttle bus from Kofu Station will take you to the winery in about 40 minutes. Within its large 150ha grounds, there is a 25ha vineyard which raises around 12 types of grapes starting with Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. And at the guest house which anyone can freely enter, a history of the winery and the yearlong production of wine are introduced through panels and video displays. There is also an observation deck from which you can get a fine view of the vineyard which can be toured and the Kofu Basin. If the weather is good, you can even catch sight of Mt. Fuji.
The popular observation tour which includes wine tasting
The bus tour where you can view the grape vineyard and the winery among other places is popular. Of course, the biggest attraction of the tour is the wine tasting. Being able to sample wine directly from aging casks is a valuable experience. Along with the standard Tomi-no-Oka tour, there is also the Premium Tasting tour which affords plenty of tasting, and even limited-time tours as well. All tours must be reserved.
A wine shop that has a tasting counter
At the tasting counter (requires admission), you are able to sample rare and very mellow wines. And in the wine shop, you can purchase from a rich variety of Japanese wines from all over the nation including Tomi-no-Oka’s own prize-winning vintage. The shop also has plenty of other products such as wine that is only sold on the premises, snacks, and goods to help you enjoy the wine.
