Fukushima Half Day Itinerary (To no Hetsuri & Ouchi-juku)

Aizu Railway – Aizu-Wakamatsu Station
Head for Tō-no-Hetsuri Station by the Aizu Railway from Aizu-Wakamatsu Station which was selected as one of the Top 100 stations of the Tohoku district as “a gateway to a town filled with history, culture and tradition”. Board the 8:52 train bound for Aizu-Tajima and arrive at Tō-no-Hetsuri in about 40 minutes. Since there are few runs of the Aizu Railway, please take note of the time when considering your trip.

To no Hetsuri

To no Hetsuri
Walk for 3 minutes from the station to view Tō-no-Hetsuri, a famous valley known for its tower-shaped cliffs and rope bridge. You can take in the picturesque sight of the unusual rocks of Fukushima. However, try not to be late for the 10:27 train bound for Aizu-Wakamatsu Station at Tō-no-Hetsuri Station. Get off at the next station, Yunokami-Onsen Station.

After arriving at the station, take a taxi to Ouchi-juku. The ride will take up to 15 minutes.

Ouchi-juku
Take a stroll through the townscape of Ouchi-juku with its rows of old residences and its original appearance of an Edo Era post station. Enjoy lunch here as you tour the town since you can taste some of the famous countryside cuisine and light snacks.
