Mount Fuji hiking plan

This is a hiking course where you can really feel the nature of Mt. Fuji, a World Heritage site. Walk along the path from the Subaru Line 5th Station and see the superb scene of the grand Mt. Fuji while you enjoy the precious flora and fauna. *This plan is only available between May and November.

Day 1

Kawaguchi-ko Station

Kawaguchi-ko Station
The final station on the Fujikyuko Line, it is crowded with many visitors during summer as the starting point for going up Mt. Fuji and heading to Lake Kawaguchi. You can see the mountain from the station and it is also near the lake. To head for the Subaru Line 5th Station, take the hiking bus bound for Fuji 5th Station from the bus terminal in front of the station (takes about 1 hour). Since the schedule changes every year, please check for the latest information.

Fuji-Subaru Line 5th Station

Fuji-Subaru Line 5th Station
This is the final stop of the Fuji Subaru Line at an altitude of 2,305m. Along with a route to the peak, there is also a trekking route for enjoying a nature walk. The station is a popular base for Fuji tourism. It is also convenient to relax here with a rest house and a store. Have lunch here before that afternoon hike.

Fujisan Komitake Shrine

Fujisan Komitake Shrine
Go through the red torii gate next to the shop at the 5th Station roundabout to head for Mt. Fuji Komitake Shrine. The shrine was first established as a sacred ground for mountain worship on Mt. Fuji and is visited by many people to pray for safety while climbing.

Ochudo Trail (Oniwa/Okuniwa)

Ochudo Trail (Oniwa/Okuniwa)
Walk along the hiking course Ochudo which continues from the Subaru Line 5th Station. Going along this path, you can enjoy the spectacular view of Mt. Fuji and its environment. From the 5th Station to Oniwa takes about 70 minutes. From here, you can enjoy the scenery of the peak and the world below. It takes another 2 hours to walk to the Osawa Kuzure gully so time must be taken into consideration during the return. Also the Okuniwa Nature Park which takes 40 minutes to go around is also recommended.
