Morning Plan for Naruko-kyo Gorge

After getting off at Naruko Onsen station, you can consult about trekking routes through Naruko-kyo Gorge and day-trip onsen facilities at the tourist information center within the station. Once you receive your map, please ensure your trekking route. Trek through Naruko-kyo as you take a nature walk which can be enjoyed throughout all four seasons. Aim for a 60-minute walk one way (2 hours round trip returning on the same route) to the Naruko-kyo Rest House where you can get a beautiful view from the observation point. For safety considerations, please put on the appropriate footwear. At the Naruko-kyo Rest House, light meals are available so taking a lunch break here is recommended. ＊The trail is closed during winter due to snow

Stop off at the Japan Kokeshi Museum on the way from the Naruko-kyo Gorge trail to Naruko Onsen Station. You can view displays and the making of the local Naruko handicraft of kokeshi. You can even try your hand at painting kokeshi. ＊Closed between January 1st and March 31st
