Travel plan for first timers in Sendai

Zuihoden is the mausoleum for the first lord of Sendai, Masamune Date. You can tour this facility which is famous for its gorgeous ornamentation. Following the tour, take the Loople Sendai to the site of Sendai Castle.

Take a stroll through the park with the remains of the castle. You can get a panoramic view of Sendai from the statue of Masamune Date, the symbol of the city. If you have time, visit the Sendai City Museum which displays the articles of the Date family. Head for Honmaru Kaikan Hall for lunch where you can dine on Japanese dishes such as the famous beef tongue.

Visit the main shrine building at Osaki Hachiman-gu Shrine which was built in the 17th century. The gorgeous carvings that have been created with the finest craftsmanship must not be missed. Take the Loople Sendai for Jouzen-ji Road.

This is the symbolic boulevard for Sendai, known as the City of Trees. Walk along the road lined with zelkova trees and spend a comfortable time at places such as the nearby cafés. Take the Loople Sendai back to JR Sendai Station.
