In addition to the Shinkansen bullet trains, trains, airport buses, express buses and local buses come in here from all directions. There is a tourist information center on the 2nd floor to obtain the latest information. To get to the Kyoto National Museum, take the No. 100 bus from Platform D1 in front of the station or take either the No. 206 or No. 208 bus from Platform D2. Get off at “Hakubutsukan Sanjusangendo-mae" bus stop. As an alternate method, you can also walk from Kyoto Station to the museum in 16 minutes.
At this museum which boasts a history of 120 years, view Japanese paintings and handicrafts. There is a museum café to relax in and a shop with plenty of original goods.
The temple is a short walk away from Kyoto National Museum. See the thousand statues of the Thousand-Armed Kannon that are said to each have a different facial expression.
