Take a stroll through the temple. On the wide temple grounds, you can enjoy the calm elegance of the rainy day and fully appreciate the beautiful interior surrounded by the fusuma (sliding door) paintings. At the honbo residence, enjoy some matcha tea while viewing the waterfall.
Walk over to Eikan-do Temple which becomes even more beautiful after mid-November with the appearance of the fall colors. It’s a 10-minute walk from Nanzen-ji Temple. Along with the wooden corridors which were built along the mountain slope, the beauty of the moss within the temple grounds that intensifies during rainy weather is another one of its charms.
Head over to Nishiki Market, known as “The Kitchen of the Capital”. In addition to seasonal ingredients and special products of Kyoto, there are also shops called “o-banzai” which sell home-cooked foods. Since it is an arcade shopping district, you can enjoy your shopping without worrying about the weather.
