Kamakura Half Day Itinerary (Engaku-ji, Meigetsu-in)

Ranked as one of Kamakura’s “Five Mountains”, it is also one of the area’s prominent Zen temples. Tour the grounds which have that appeal of the Middle Ages when the temple was first established in the 13th century as well as that natural forest which has been used to create a beautiful garden.

A temple known for its beauty throughout all four seasons due to the blossoms and autumn colors. You can fully enjoy the circular window in the main hall from where you can view the garden, the dry landscape garden and other elegant scenes. Many tourists come and visit during the season of hydrangeas in June and July.

Return to JR Kita-Kamakura Station and take the train to Kamakura Station. In front of Kamakura Station, there is a bus terminal for going to the famous tourist sites. It’s also near the popular tourist spot of Komachi Street with its many restaurants so it’s recommended as a place to have lunch.
