Yamanashi 1 Day Itinerary (Shosenkyo & Takeda Shrine)

A picturesque spot in Yamanashi Prefecture with plenty of natural sites of scenic beauty. Walk through an area of unusually-shaped rocks and waterfalls and relish the scenery which changes with each season. In the afternoon, visit the historical landmark related to the military leader, Shingen Takeda. *This is a seasonal plan which is restricted between April 1st and November 30th

Day 1

Shosenkyo Gorge

Shosenkyo Gorge
Take a walk through Shosenkyo Gorge which has been called the most beautiful gorge in Japan. There is a trekking course of 1 hour and 40 minutes along the gorge from where you can take a ropeway up to the top. From Panorama-dai, there is the grand view of Mt. Fuji which is said to be able to lift one’s fortunes. Following the trekking, take a bus from the “Shosenkyo Taki Ue” stop to Kofu Station. There are many restaurants around the station so have a light meal and some coffee to relax. There are also a number of places serving the local dish of hoto noodles so that you can have a taste of the area.

Takeda Shrine

Takeda Shrine
Visit the shrine associated with Shingen Takeda, the famous military commander during the Sengoku (Warring States) Era. You can see valuable historical landmarks with the scenery of Kofu in the background. If you have time, you can also drop by Kaisenko-ji Temple.
