This is an area of historic buildings representing Kawagoe, also known as Koedo (Little Edo), which includes the kura-zukuri no Machinami which is a row of old shops, and the Toki no Kane (Time Bell Tower) re-built in 1894. Kawagoe Ichibangai has been designated as an Important Preservation District of Historic Buildings and one of the Top 100 Historical Sites of Beautiful Japan.
