Built in 1835, the Konpira Grand Theater is also known as Kanamaru-za and it is Japan’s oldest surviving theater. It has been nationally designated as an Important Cultural Property for its valuable theater architecture of the end of the Edo Era. Even now, shows with popular kabuki actors are performed.
