Eihei-ji is a main temple of the Soto school of Zen Buddhism with 15,000 subordinate temples below under its charge. It is known as a training temple for zazen which draws tourists from all over the world. The temple buildings cover a wide area on the side of the mountain and you can view the temple architecture which has become one with the nature of the mountain. Plenty of dining establishments including soba restaurants and cafés are available in the vicinity of the temple so you can have lunch after exploring Eihei-ji.

This is a commercial building adjacent to JR Fukui Station. Inside the building, you will find Fuku-Buku Kan, a local food and products center for Fukui where you can also purchase handicrafts native to the prefecture. Happiring is a good place to take a break due to its cafés and restaurants. In addition, in front of the station, there is Kyoryu Hiroba (Dinosaur Plaza) where you can encounter three dinosaur monuments. They are special monuments representing the prefecture which has had many dinosaur fossils unearthed there.
