About

A café that is currently the talk of the town in Akihabara

Akihabara is known as the mecca for all things pop cultural in Japan ranging from anime to aidoru and everything in between, but it’s also a neighborhood famous for plenty of unique stores and cafés. There are always lots of tourists hanging about and the area is alive with activity. But a new landmark has arisen. The Owl-no-Mori Café newly opened in 2015 on the 5th floor of a building just across from the UDX Building. It has garnered attention as a café where you can interact with owls.

A relaxing time spent having a rapport with owls

As soon as you get off the elevator, there is a fascinating space that spreads out in front of you in the form of a forest. Approximately 30 owls ranging from the rarest species to the largest types fly about freely throughout the café. Not only can the adorable owls be viewed, but they can also be petted. There are many establishments such as cat cafés which do not allow small children but Owl-no-Mori is more than happy to welcome kids. Thus, you can enjoy a wonderful time with the whole family. In addition, the café is recommended for those people who are interested in owning an owl since owls can even be purchased here. You can take your time considering whether you would like an owl to become a part of the family as you easily consult with staff on how to feed them and other matters that you don’t know about when it comes to raising owls. As well, although there is usually no time limit, there is a one-hour limit placed during busy times(There is one free drink included on your entrance fee). Owls are very sensitive animals and customers tend to get somewhat excited in front of the especially cute ones, so you will want to be aware of the rules via the explanation from staff and washing of your hands after you enter the café so that you will be able to take pictures and touch them.
