Okinawa 1 Day Itinerary (Ocean Expo Park, Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium, Emerald Beach)

The village of Bise has a large forest of fukugi trees which has acted as a windbreak since ancient times. With people living in the private houses, you can view the Okinawan scenery of old. There are about 20,000 fukugi trees among which some are said to be over 300 years old.＊There are limited runs of buses so please check the bus schedule in advance. Enjoy your tour without being late to get on the bus.

Ocean Expo Park was built in 1975 to commemorate Expo ’75. Take a light stroll after arriving and then have a quick lunch. You can enjoy a meal on Churaumi Aquarium’s 4th floor at Restaurant Ino while taking in the view of the sea. The restaurant can be accessed without having to enter the aquarium.

Okichan Theater is located inside Ocean Expo Park next to Churaumi Aquarium. The adorable dolphins give dynamic performances with the blue ocean in the background. The dolphin shows are popular so it’s recommended that visitors get their seats early. In addition to the dolphin shows, you can also see the Dolphin Lagoon and the Diver Show among other activities.

Under the concept of “encountering the seas of Okinawa”, the waters surrounding Okinawa are recreated in the world’s largest aquarium. The amazingly huge water tank holds an 8.7m whale shark and a reef manta ray. Also popular is the aquarium café Ocean Blue where you can take a break while looking at the tank.

Emerald Beach is located within a precious lagoon where the white coral sands and the emerald-green ocean spread out everywhere. The beach can be reached on foot from Churaumi Aquarium or by getting on a tourist vehicle.
