Adashino Nenbutsu-ji Temple

In ancient days, Oku-Sagano was made into a burial site where the temple was built within a hushed atmosphere

View Gallery
Approximately 1200 years ago, the Buddhist monk Kukai founded the temple in an area where the weather-beaten remains of people were buried. More than 8,000 stone Buddhist statues have been placed there now to memorialize them. There is a beautiful bamboo forest extending from the temple grounds to the cemetery.
