A floral paradise making use of a wide swath of land
You can enjoy the numerous flowers within the lush park that is surrounded by forests and ponds near the center of the Chugoku region. The Flower Plaza where flowers like tulips and poppies bloom from April to May has the most spectacular season in the year. In the fall, the cosmos covers the entire area in pink. At the Minori Village, there is nemophila in May and then the sunflowers of summer. At Japan’s largest Daffodil Garden, there are over 1 million daffodils of 600 different breeds covering the hills in the early spring.
Plenty of outdoor facilities
At one end of Kunikane Pond that is spanned by a large suspension bridge, the forest athletic course provides 29 kinds of equipment. All of the courses primarily take up to 2 hours to traverse which is ideal for a comfortable stroll through the woods. In the Large Lawn Plaza which is very popular with children, there is a barbeque area, the Kyu-no-Oka with its large-scale playground complex which includes over 40 types of facilities such as a roller coaster and a slide. The auto campground Bihoku Auto Village within the park has received the industry best 5 stars from the Japan Auto Camp Association.
There are workshops and events all year
At Hiba-no-Sato, there are various workshops held throughout the year where you can experience the lifestyle within the Chugoku Mountains and ancient Japanese culture through lessons in rice cake-pounding, soba-making and straw craft. The Winter Illumination that is held between mid-November and mid-January is a popular event that has been selected as the top illumination event in the Chugoku region for 3 years running. During the period of the illumination, a direct shuttle bus is in operation from the Hiroshima Bus Center which provides a bus tour with a dinner.
