Visit Sakurayama Hachiman-gu Shrine which is known for one of Japan’s major festivals, the Takayama Festival and then in the same area, take a tour through the Takayama Festival Yatai Kaikan (Float Exhibition Hall). The display of the floats which adorn the festival is absolutely gorgeous.
The historical district is suffused with the atmosphere of a castle town. Along with sake shops and miso stores from the old days, there are also cafés and restaurants. Takayama ramen and cuisine with Hida beef are famous dishes. It’s the most popular spot in Takayama.
