Sado is famous for its gold mine! This course will let you get in contact with the history of the island as you visit the mine while taking that drive through the beautiful scenery of Sado. You can also try panning for gold and take a tour of the precipitous cliffs via excursion ship.

Ferries go in and out of this port from places on the mainland such as Niigata. There is a tourist information office and a rental car office within this facility. Please don’t forget to make advance reservations for a rental car.

The remains of a gigantic ore processing plant that was once the largest in East Asia. The then-cutting edge industrial complex that was necessary for the prosperity of the gold mine is now a historic site covered in the flora of the area.

This is the place to try panning for gold! This tour is divided into 3 courses: beginner, intermediate and advanced. The advanced course is where you can enjoy panning by entering the river. Any gold dust you find is yours for the taking as a souvenir.
