Oita is a place known for its abundant hot springs. Beppu and Yufuin are well known, but do you know any others?
Below is a list of the 10 best hot springs in Oita. If it's your first time in Japan, enjoy experiencing one of the famous hot springs. Or if it's your third or fourth time in Japan, maybe this time you can spend your time leisurely going from one hot spring to another.

Kannawa has that atmosphere of an old-style onsen town

Teruyu Onsen

Teruyu Onsen is renowned for its hygenic baths and gentle waters the moment you enter its hot springs. The bathroom is cleaned daily by the owners themselves. Most notably, depending on the weather conditions, the colour of the onsen's water can change, which makes for a unique experience.

The onsen does not cut back on quality, as the water is as wonderful as how accessible this onsen is. Bathing in it will surely relieve you of fatigue from traveling to Oita.

Ichinoharu Kyodo Onsen

Personally, I prefer Ichinoharu Kyodo's well-aged onsens. It is said to have been build with granite stones over 80 years ago which are still being used today. Seeing a bath fully build in granite is quite rare, so if you have a chance definitely visit this place for a nostalgic experience.

Ukenokuchi Onsen's is famous for it's huge outdoor onsen.
