The shores of Lake Chuzenji where Chuzenji Temple is located are a place of lush nature surrounded by the mountains of Nikko starting naturally with Mt. Nantai. Within this soothing environment, you can rid yourself of the fatigue of traveling by spending time in contact with the temple’s cultural assets and its distinctive serenity. First, there is the standing statue of Kannon which is enshrined in the main hall of the temple. It is worshiped to bring power to overcome disasters and hardships. Also, worshipers get together at Hashiri Daikokuten Hall to receive good luck in love and successful childbirth, and Aizome Hall is known to provide fortune in matchmaking.

Tourist spots around Chuzenji Temple

Chuzenji stands among the nature of Oku-Nikko, and surrounding the temple, there are many tourist spots where you can take full advantage of that nature. First, there is Lake Chuzenji which makes up a part of Nikko National Park that spreads out in front of your eyes. Around the lake, there is a mountain range which displays beautiful scenery throughout all four seasons. In particular, during the autumn, the contrast between the scarlet mountains and their reflection on the lake is wonderful. The observation point on Hangetsuyama where you can get a panoramic view of Mt. Nantai, the highest peak in Nikko, and Lake Chuzenji is also popular. Right beside the temple, there is Yumoto Onsen and its springhead where you can enjoy the hot springs. As well, there are the high wetlands of Senjogahara and Oku-Nikko’s Ryuzu Falls, examples of tourist spots that make full use of the grand nature. Body and mind will undoubtedly be soothed by Mother Nature.
