Summer Festivals in Tohoku region

There are many festvals in Japan at Summer. At Tohoku region of Japan the biggest festivals are held in the beggining of August every year. After the big earthquake in March 11, 2011, The festvals were held as one, it was called Tohoku Rokkon Festival (Six souls Festival) and they it held in July. The Tohoku Rokkon Festival was yeld every year untill 2016 which was the las time they held the festival. It was held each year in a different city and the point of the festival was for restoration efforts of the earthquake. Here are the six festivals that were celebrated at the Tohoku Rokkon Festival.

Fukushima Waraji Festival

The festival is named after the traditional style Japanese straw sandal, and just as the name suggsests it is a festival with Sandals, with the main atraction and start being a 12 meter long straw sandal being carried through the street. Basically the festival is held to symbol safe travels and health of feet . It is dedicated to the Haguro shrine.  It is held on the first weekend of the august for two days.
