Funekko Nagashi

A 280-year-old summer event in Morioka to pray for good health towards the ancestral spirits

Portraits of the dearly departed and offerings are adorned on boats which are then sent down the river to be set on fire by torches to be sent to the spirits in a long-standing event. The fireworks soaring into the night sky are also amazing as they brilliantly signal the end of summer.
