Withdrawing money in Japan

Japan is hugely a cash-based society, and it's a good idea to take out as much money as you think you'll need for your trip. However, if you are ever strapped for cash, there are a few places to go to make international withdrawals.

JP post office

You can withdraw money from any ATM at any JP post offices. The ATMs have an English option. The withdrawal limit is 50,000 yen at per transaction.

Is the world largest convenience store chain and in Japan there are 7 elevens all around, so it will not be hard for you to find one, you can withdraw money from the Atm at 7elevn. The minimum withdrawal is 10,000, there is a English option on the atm’s

Travelex

Travelex is a Currency exchange shop that offers the possibility to as well as exchange money, to withdraw it, there are not as many of Travelexes around as there are Post offices or 7 elevens.

Keep in mind that not all cards are compatible with all of these machines. It's also a good idea to contact your home bank and make sure your card works in Japan and to make sure there will be no withdrawal problems. Also, most places take a small transaction payment when you withdraw money.
