These Historical Villages are part of Japan’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites, these are three Historical villages. They are located near Toyama and Gifu. These villages are located in mountain area, the buildings and farms that are located at the villages have a very unique look them. At the Villages there are some Japanese style bed and breakfast that you should stay at if you have the chance to visit these special villages.

Ainokura Gassho-zukuri Hamlet
Registered as a World Heritage site, Ainokura Gassho-zukuri Hamlet is a place where the scenery of an old mountain village has been preserved. The unique thatched roof houses of this village as protection against heavy snow, and the tranquil and rustic atmosphere make you feel relaxed.

Gokayama
This is an area with beautifully preserved “gassho-zukuri” (thatch roof) houses built among the mountains. They include World Heritage sites such as the hamlets of Ainokura and Suganuma. You can also experience the traditional culture like handmade “washi” paper and singing “minyo” (folk songs).

Shirakawago
