Edo Wonderland, a Place Where You Can Experience Old World Japan!

Let's go back in time, back to the Edo period! In Edo Wonderland, you will be able to be an Edo period civilian, samurai, even Ninja! There are also several activities on that theme, which one of the most popular would be the "Catch the Thief"!

Tokugawa Ieyasu established Tokugawa Shogunate and ruled Japan in 1603-1867, which is why this period is also known as the Tokugawa period, or more famously, the Edo period. In this period, Japan was isolated from foreign powers, also known as Sakoku, the enjoyment of arts and culture was also limited in this period, although in this period, Japan also experienced economic growth. The Tokugawa period ended with Meiji Restoration on May 3rd, 1868.

One day pass tickets cost 4,500 Yen for Adult (13 and over) and 2,300 Yen for Children (7-12). Meanwhile, half-day pass tickets cost 3,900 Yen for Adult (13 and over) and 2,000 Yen for Children (7-12),  half-day pass tickets are available after 14:00 during Summer hours and after 13:00 during Winter hours, children under 7 are free to enter. Admittance is 1 hour before closing time.

 

Edo Wonderland is closed on Wednesdays (except during holiday periods listed), closed December 8 to December 21. This place is open on National HolidaysNew Years (December 29 to January 5); March 25 to April 7, also open on Golden Week (April 29 to May 5; July 25 to August 31, and October 1 to November 14), for more information, check the Edo Wonderland website.

 

You can reach Edo Wonderland from:

Tokyo Station or Ueno Station : Take the Tohoku Shinkansen to Utsunomiya Station (Around 60 mins from Tokyo Station), continue by taking the JR Nikko Line from Utsunomiya Station to Nikko Station (around 40 minutes) and finally take a free shuttle bus (30 minutes).

Asakusa Station : Take the Nikko-Kinugawa Line to Kinugawaonsen Station from Asakusa Station (around 2 hours), continue by taking the local bus from the Kinugawaonsen Station to Nikko Edomura (Edo Wonderland) (20 mins).

Omiya Station : Take the Nikko-Kinugawa line to Kinugawaonsen Station, continue by taking the local bus from Kinugawaonsen Station to Nikko Edomura (Edo Wonderland) (20 mins).
