Nanjakora Daifuku

Coarse red bean paste, a strawberry, a chestnut and cream cheese are all crammed into rice cake!

This is a form of daifuku (an old-fashioned Japanese confection of sweet bean paste rolled into mochi rice cake) which got its name as a trial product when customers would bite into it and yell “Nanjakora!” (What the heck is this?!) The extravagant wagashi has a strawberry, a chestnut and cream cheese crammed into a large pocket of mochi and is a popular item at the shop Okashi-no-Hidaka.
