Jakko-in Temple

This is a nunnery of the Tendai sect that is said to have been built in the year 594 by Prince Shotoku. The natural environment and tranquility to be found within this mountain village temple are beautiful. Following the loss of the Main Hall to fire in 2000, the building has been reconstructed to its original appearance. There is a pond which has been created to draw water from the mountainside, and no matter from which angle you view it, a stroll garden has been designed so that it looks like it is showing the front, a highly regarded masterpiece.
