The largest shopping center in Kita-Kyushu
Riverwalk Kyushu is a huge commercial complex that is located 10 minutes away from JR Kokura Station on foot. It is the largest such facility in Kita-Kyushu with theaters, an art museum, a wedding hall, a broadcasting center and a university bringing together commercial ventures and cultural endeavors. It is also within walking distance from Kokura Castle.

The DECO CITY shopping mall which brings together the first branches of shops in the Kyushu area as well as Kita-Kyushu City spans from the 1st basement all the way up to the 5th floor. A wide variety of products are sold such as fashions for kids, women and men, interior goods, miscellaneous products, jewelry and sporting goods. At the food court, there are places for ramen, udon and okonomiyaki, and the cafes and ice cream shops are also popular. At the Kita-Kyushu Performing Arts Center, there is a large hall and two smaller theaters where performances such as classical music concerts, ballet, dance and plays are held. The Kita-Kyushu Municipal Museum of Art, Riverwalk Gallery is the annex for the large Kita-Kyushu Municipal Museum of Art located in Tobata Ward, Kita-Kyushu, and is an urban gallery where you can get a close-up sensation of art. Planned exhibitions of various genres are held there. At the NHK Kita-Kyushu Broadcasting Center, you can enjoy the open studio for free where you can easily observe (weekdays only) the sight of live broadcasts of TV shows. Also depending on the season, there are many events held at the complex, including the summer-only Water World where you can experience going into a huge ball floating on the water, and experience kid-friendly attractions such as the giant water cannon which shoots 40m into the air.
