Hi Sandy!
No, there are some limitations to which lines you can use.
Here is what you can get with the pass:
- Unlimited use of local and limited express trains between Nagoya and Toyama (along the JR Tokaido and Takayama Line via Gifu) and between Nagoya and Shinano-Omachi (via the JR Chuo, Shinanoi and Oita Line via Matsumoto).
- Unlimited travel along the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route.
- Pass holders can make up to four seat reservations on limited express trains for free.
- Pass holders cannot use the reservation system for the Tateyama Cablecar.
- The pass is valid on five consecutive days. The validity of the passes is based on calendar days (midnight to midnight) as opposed to 24-hour periods.
- Only foreign visitors to Japan (with temporary visitor status) can use the pass. It cannot be used by residents of Japan.
- The pass can only be used by a single person. It cannot be transferred between multiple persons. The pass holder has to carry his/her passport at all times.
- The pass can be used from April 15 to November 11, 2018 and is on sale from February 1 to November 7, 2018.
- Another note: Holders of the Alpine-Takayama-Matsumoto Area Tourist Pass cannot use the automatic ticket gates. They have to pass through the manned ticket gates, instead.
here is a picture of the route where you can use the pass:
Remember:
- Unlimited rides on JR conventional lines running between Nagoya – Gero – Takayama – Toyama, and between Shinano-Omachi – Matsumoto – Nagoya!
- Unlimited use of transportation within the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route (between Toyama – Tateyama – Murodo – Daikanbo – Kurobe Dam – Shinano-Omachi)
- Unlimited rides on JR express trains to and from Nagoya, and on all transportation within the Alpine Route!
