Shimizu Sushi Museum is located inside the commercial facility of S-Pulse Dream Plaza. The museum consists of Shimizu Sushi Yokocho on the 1st and 2nd floors and a 2nd-floor zone which centers around the Sushi Academy. If you’re going to take a look around the museum, then having a meal in the free admission Shimizu Sushi Yokocho is recommended. After getting a bite there, showing your receipt will allow you to enter the paid zone for just half-price, but if you are just planning to eat in the Yokocho, then entry is free. Shimizu Sushi Yokocho has 10 sushi shops which have their own distinctive character. There is a kaiten sushi (plates served on conveyor belt) restaurant which serves true Edomae sushi, a shop which specializes in tuna and local fish, and other famous establishments. It is indeed a lineup that will have you pondering which place to ultimately visit.

Learn about the history and trivia of sushi in the paid zone!

In the admission-required zone on the 2nd floor, the neighborhood of Shimizu Port from the Meiji Era is recreated, where within its nostalgic atmosphere, you can learn about the history and knowledge of sushi. At the Sushi Academy, there is a kabuki stage which has a deep connection with sushi. Learn about the birthplace of sushi in terms of how sushi came to be and when it was brought to Japan. Also, there are plenty of highlights at the academy such as the tools used to create sushi on display and a corner where you can learn the kanji characters to describe the various toppings on the sushi rice. You can learn and enjoy gaining a deeper knowledge about sushi. In addition, at the Sushi Dojo, there are books and videos regarding sushi along with the latest information on the food.
