Shizuoka is not known for it's temple and shrines but there are few and they are just as interesting as other parts of Japan and if youa chance then they are something that might be worth seeing. The most famous temples and shrines in Shizuoka are the 1200-year-old Shuzen-ji Temple area and the Hie Shrine. Both are very close to each other helping you to visit both of them at the same time. Especially the Suzen-ji Temple holds many sights worth seeing in itself like the Shigetsuden sutra library.
