About

Umeda Sky Building with its unique shape gaining interest

Completed in 1993. The two 40-storey buildings are connected at the top with the 39th floor having sky restaurants, the 40th floor with an observation gallery and with an open-air area on the roof. There is the Floating Garden Observatory from where you can get a 360-degree view of the streets of Osaka. The 1st basement is a restaurant floor, Takimi Koji, which has been realized as a retro avenue done in the style of the early Showa Era with 26 casual restaurants serving okonomiyaki, ramen, udon, sushi and other dishes. At the movie theater, there are popular movies from Japan and overseas along with individualistic films, and in the plaza, there is Oktoberfest, a German Christmas market, a Fiesta Mexicana, a Hawaiian festival and other colorful events. In 2008, the British newspaper, The Times, introduced Umeda Sky Building as a thrilling structure and selected it as one of the top 20 buildings in the world, after which it became popular as a tourist spot representing Osaka.

The Floating Garden Observatory with a rooftop view of 360 degrees

With the two buildings connected at the top, the 39th floor has the Stardust sky lounge where you can enjoy the premium whiskey of Japan, Sanguu where you can dine on genuine Cantonese cuisine while admiring the night view, and shop SKY39, a souvenir shop. On the 40th floor, there is the relaxation space of café SKY40 and a rooftop observation area with a 2-person sofa and a counter table with chairs. Furthermore, when you go up to the roof, there is the Lumi Sky Walk, a rooftop corridor that is 122m long and has a 360-degree view of the sky overhead. A big and beautiful panoramic view expands before you through the sky and down on the streets of Osaka below. Chosen as having one of Japan’s best 100 views of a sunset, enjoy the arrival of the nighttime skyline from dusk.
