If you plan to leave from Tokyo station, the Fujikyu or JR Kanto Buses are the way to go. These buses will take you directly to Kawaguchiko station near Mt. Fuji in roughly 2 hours and for 1,800 yen. JR Pass holders beware, the JR Pass will not grant you access on these buses!

If Shinjuku is your point of departure, then we recommend you take either the Fujikyu or the Keio Bus from Shinjuku Bus Terminal to Kawaguchiko Station (1,750 yen, around 2 hours). The Japan Rail Pass is not valid on these buses.

From Shibuya Station

If you happen to be leaving from Shibuya, Fujikyu Bus runs several buses every day connecting Shibuya (Mark City) and Fujisan Station in about 2h30 mins for 1,800 yen. The Japan Rail Pass will not grant you access to these buses.

JR Pass and Special Offers
If you want to go by train you can take the JR Chuo line to Otsuki station and switch trains to the Fujikyu Railway line from Otsuki to Kawaguchiko Station. The train journey will cost you either 3,640 yen or 2,460 yen depending on whether or not you take the limited express train from Shinjuku to Otsuki. Taking the Limited Express line will cut 30 minutes from your trip, bringing it down to 125 minutes. The JR Tokyo Wide Pass will cover the entire journey, with the exception of the panoramic seatings for the Limited Express trains. The Japan Rail Pass will not work between Otsuki and Kawaguchiko
