The Sapporo Clock Tower originated in 1878 as a lecture hall where military training and ceremonies were held for the students of the Sapporo Agricultural College. It is known as one of the remaining valuable examples of modern Western architecture in Sapporo. The interior is open to the public as a museum and the history of the development of Hokkaido along with other information is on display.
