A Frenchman was behind its design which was realized by Japanese carpenters and artisans to create a structure merging Japan and the West.

Take a tour within the city of Takasaki in the afternoon. The area around Takasaki Station has flourished as a commercial district where you can choose from a light snack to a sit-down meal so having lunch here is convenient. After lunch, visit Takasaki Byakue Dai-Kannon (Takasaki White-Robed Great Kannon). Known as a symbol of Takasaki, the white statue of Kannon soaring into the sky is an impressive sight. It can be accessed by taking a bus or a taxi from the West Exit of Takasaki Station.
