How to get to Kamakura

I will be spending the day in Kamakura on Sunday. What do people usually use to get to Kamakura station (Which train, which lines, etc). There's a pass called the 'Enoshima Kamakura Free Pass' that you can buy for about 1500 yen and includes return fare and rides on the Enoden and Odakyu lines, but it’s slower and doesn't include the JR lines. Is this what tourists usually do?

Another option is the JR Shonan-Shinjuku line which is a little less than 1,000 yen one way. You can buy a Kamakura Enoshima Pass to get around Kamakura on the JR line and Enoden lines for 700 yen.

Which one would you recommend for a tourist going to Kamakura for the first time?

Do you have a lot of time to spend at Kamakura? Or is your time limited?

If your time is limited, than I’d recommend taking the JR line even though it’s a little more expensive as you’ll save about 1.5 hours on travel time. If you have plenty of time to spend and your starting point is on the Odakyu line, then that’s fine too. But as a tourist, I’d think you’d want to make the most of your time.
