Restaurant booking

Quite a few restaurants in Tokyo now seem to take online bookings in English, but there are also thousands that don't.

What are the Japanese phrases I should know to make a booking over the phone?

Cheers, Jim

First of all you'll probably need to know your numbers and months in order to say the date and time you want. You can look that up on google. Phrases you'll need to know are below.

"Yoyaku o shitai desu" means I'd like to make a booking.

" 1 gatsu 1 nichi, 7 ji,  aite imasu ka?" means Do you have a opening on January 1st 7 o'clock? "Gatsu" is month, "nichi" is day, and "ji" is o'clock.

You'll be asked your name and phone number in order to make a booking, so use the following.

"watashi no nama e wa ...... desu" means My name is .....

" watashi no denwa bango wa ........ desu means My phone number is .............

and if you don't have a international phone number, say " denwa o motte imasen "
