Japan Rail Pass for Tokyo ?

Hi,

I am wondering if it is useful to order a Japan Rail Pass during the time I'll stay in Tokyo. I am gonna stay there for 2 weeks, to see all the things around the town. Will I need to take the train to see the main aroud, or will I use other transports?

Thanks a lot,

Olivier

Hi, if you're only staying in Tokyo there's no need to get a Japan Rail Pass as its more for people moving to other cities by Shinkansen. In Tokyo, just buy the prepaid train pass (Suica or Pasmo, it doesn't matter which one) and charge money into it so you don't have to buy a ticket every time you use the train. It's the easiest way to get around.

You can know more about the JR pass in this video:

Hi Olivier,

You can easily travel around Tokyo with the Yamanote loop line, which is included in the JR Pass: https://www.jrailpass.com/blog/yamanote-line Also the Chuo-Sobu line and the Narita Express and Tokyo Monorail (to Haneda) are also for free with the pass, so it will come in handy.
