Costs in Japan

We’re going to be visiting Japan for 10 days next summer. I hear that the costs in Japan are a bit expensive, so I'm concerned about how much it's going to cost. We like relatively nice hotels and good food, not too much junk food.

It depends what you mean by a relatively nice hotel. If you stay in a nice business hotel, it’ll be maybe around 12,000 yen/person. If you choose to stay in a well known hotel (4 stars), it’ probably be about 16,000 yen/person or more.

As for food, lunch is less expensive than it would be in Europe or America. You can find a lot of places that offer set menus for 1,000 - 1,500 yen. As for dinner, if you eat at a regular place it’ll probably be around 3,000 yen/person without alcohol. With alcohol maybe around 5,000 yen but I guess it depends on how much you drink and eat. If you go to a really nice place, the cost will be 10,000 yen and more.

Seems like costs for food won't be something I have to worry about. thanks!
