Imotaki

An autumnal dish from Ehime Prefecture. Everyone gathers around a large hot pot with boiling taro potatoes as they admire the moon

Taro potatoes, octopus, chicken, vegetables and other ingredients are boiled together in a pot outside to make imotaki, a fall dish around which everyone enjoys that party atmosphere. This is a regional custom that has been celebrated for 300 years while enjoying tsukimi (moon viewing).
