About

Operating only during events 3 times a year

Located in the center of Hiroshima Prefecture on the 500m-high Sera Highlands, Sera Kogen Farm is about 40 minutes away from downtown Onomichi by car. The farm is only open during the seasons of spring, summer and autumn when the festivals are held. The flowers are hand-planted for each event. There is an observation point from where you can view the entire farm which provides incredible flower fields on a massive scale.

Plenty of flowery scenes that are highlights for every season

The Spring Tulip Festival is held from mid-April to early May. 850,000 tulips of about 650 breeds are planted over 65,000㎡ of fields with their own designs. One highlight is the 200,000 tulips that are arranged to create Japan’s largest tulip illustration. They are planted in every color so that the flower pattern seems to float up, and the beautiful arcs that form rainbows cannot be missed. August is the time for the Sunflower Festival. With 1.1 million golden blossoms of 100 different varieties, the largest collection of sunflowers in the country completely covers the hill in one fell swoop. There is also a stamp rally held within the Sunflower Maze right near the entrance. And there are also workshops on such things such as Pressed Flower Strap Making. Finally, there is the Dahlia Festival which is held between mid-September and late October. Western Japan’s biggest collection of 450 types of dahlia is exactly what a flower garden should be. You will be spellbound by the artistic beauty of each blossom. Moreover, there are plenty of memories to be had with the combination of colors and giant dahlia blossoms which are more than 30 cm in diameter.

A restaurant and café to enjoy meals while viewing the blossoms.

The terrace barbeque is popular at the Farm Restaurant where you can also enjoy seasonal cuisine in the spring and fall. At the Flower Café, you can have soothing herb tea among other items, and herbal products are sold. They are spaces where you can catch your breath while viewing the fields of flowers.
